My name is Brendan and I live in the wonderful state of New Hampshire. I'm 27 years old and married to a great woman. I enjoy playing floor hockey in a local recreational league and I've just started getting into boxing at a local boxing gym. I haven't done any sparring yet, but I am looking forward to it.
I was in the USAF reserves as a security forces member for six years and I currently work as a security guard at an investments firm. Currently trying to lose the 15 or so pounds I've put on since leaving the service last October so I can go back in. I honestly miss being in the service and I miss the fine folks I had the pleasure of serving with.
After that, I will go back to school (again) and finish up a degree in Business Studies even if I'm not quite sure what I'd like to use it for.
I too am relatively new here, but there are plenty of serving and ex-military men (and possibly women) on these boards so no doubt you'll have plenty of great stories to share and I look forward to hearing them.
Out of interest, how was the USAF reserves? And by reserves, are we talking giving up your weekends or is this a full-time job?
The reserves are a one weekend a month, two weeks a year commitment. Of course, if you get deployed you could be looking at anywhere from a eight months to a year and a half. Admittedly, the USAF often has shorter deployments than most other branches of service.
I enjoyed my time there, but it does have it's ups and downs like everything else.
