I'm a 6' 2" guy who likes wearing gilets, I own 5 in total. I'm just looking for advice though on what other people wear with their gilets so I can try out some new looks.

I think the question is what is your style?

I use vests and waistcoats in my business dress and casual looks.

Vests work great with a dress shirt, indigo blue denim and a fine pair of brogues.

I have seen some try fluffy vest over a suit coat but that looks silly to me.

I tend wear padded ones (some of my gilets are more padded than others) but I did try wearing one over my shirt and tie as I was walking from my car to the office (see pic below), that was more function than fashion, but I generally prefer wearing gilets to jackets.

Do people think you're in the Navy?

When I wear my red one they probably do haha

Looking at the images, those jackets are horrid style wise.  It provides no structure to your shoulders and the collars distract rather then guide the eye.  It does nothing to frame your body and project a confident controlled person.

I'm guessing it's pretty safe to say you're not a fan of puffer vests then, judging by your response ;)

:) Sorry if that was a bit much.

Your clothing should fit your goals.  Emergency Enviroment Gumby suits look horrid but do a great job for their task.

The task of your business clothing is to project a smart, solid, trustworthy image to the people you work with.  When someone needs someone to represent them / the company you go with the option that looks the part.   So you always want to look the part.

That said, I have D20 bow ties, agents of shield cufflinks, etc....  All subtle.  Is someone points it out is something to discuss.  I'm a Geek Engineer.  However at 10 feet you can't tell.

Now for your leisure clothing.  What ever works for you.

It's ok, just caught me by surprise haha. I don't mind the direct approach :D, I prefer it as that's how things get done, no messing around ;) I tried a more casual approach today with a vest, would be interested for your feedback.

Great weekender look.  Between the shirt and jeans you are not in work mode.

Once you do that, (weekend casual mode) you have a lot of variance.   I still don't like puffy collars but this is an outdoor functional jacket.  So its fine.

But that is just my take.  I lean far more dress then casual when doing dress casual.  I like a blazer, turtle neck, dark blue jeans and brogues, myself.

Ah thanks, yeah I think this is a better look. Sounds like you dress classier than I do haha I don't put in very much effort. I really wanna try the casual shirt and puffy vest look, not sure what shirt to get though...
Some clothes are purely fashionable (tuxedos), some purely functional (coveralls/boiler suit), and the rest are on a spectrum between the two. I feel these vests (never heard the word gilet before so thank you for the addition to my vocabulary) lean to the functional side. My advice would be to ditch 4 of the 5 gilets and fill that closet space with some more stylish clothes.
I'm not gonna ditch my vests, I like wearing them and wear them more than most of my other types of clothes :P I was more looking for suggestions on what other people wear with them.
