For those of you who wear cowboy boots, how many pairs do you own?

This thread is aimed at those on here who like to wear cowboy boots, even if only occasionally -- how many pairs do you own?

Also, if you own, say, 5 or more pairs, do you wear boots exclusively (not counting at places like the gym, of course)?

Finally, if I may, I'd like to kindly request that if you don't wear boots, please refrain from responding.  I'm requesting that so I won't get a buttload of responses saying, "I don't own any, sorry."  Thank you.

I'll start -- I currently own 2 pairs, but I'm tempted to get at least one more pair.  Yet I'm not really sure if there's any point in that, as I don't wear boots exclusively, unlike certain folks I know who have 10, 20, 50, or 100 pairs of boots.

lol. I like your thinking about the kind of intervention I need.

I read your earlier posts about boots on another thread. Good stuff.

re: your point about what working cowboys wear. You are spot on. I have been to several roping contests here in Abilene as well as the Texas High School Rodeo championships.  The ranchers who come to watch and those who participate lean heavily toward ropers. The in thing here seems to be roper style boots but with a square wide toe. I am not a fan of this look fwiw. Ropers are fine but stay with a regular roper toe.

My ranching friends and friends of friends seem to like JL Mercer's of San Angelo for their ropers and Beck's Boots of Amarillo for well made regular "cowboy" boots. Ropers are around 400 bucks and cowboy boots go from 5-700. Prices are fore  hand but not custom made (they don't make a last specifically for your foot).

Prices  for custom hand made boots here in Abilene start at 900 dollars for up to 12 inch tops in cow or calf hide to 1500 for elephant. Inlays can add a  lot to the price.

I try to buy a pair or so a year.  Cowboy boots are all-purpose in Texas, so I wear them pretty much everywhere except the softball field.  I have three pair of Ariats -- dress black, business casual brown, and well-worn brown for yardwork and stuff.  All are roughly the same model, just different colors ...

I like the frontstrap on them.

I think I'm going to get Lucchese Ostrich Leg dress boots next.

I don't much like the normal ostrich boots ... I think the dots look strange.  But, ostrich leg has a leathery almost crocodile or caiman look.  And, they're not quite as shiny as some.

Nice looking boots.

If I ever buy a pair of ready made boots I  will probably go with Luchesse Classics. Like you, I prefer ostrich leg or smooth ostrich to full quill.

Another little update -- a couple months ago I said I'd replaced the 2 pairs of Lucchese 1883 mad dog goat boots (in tan and chocolate) I had with a pair of Lucchese 1883 tan ranch hand boots. Well, since then I added a pair of Lucchese 1883 chocolate mad dog goat boots with a more rounded toe (I realized the hard way that I don't really care for more pointed toes). I also said the Lucchese Classics black ranch hand boots that I had weren't going anywhere, but I'm now eating my words because unfortunately, they just never fit as well as I had hoped (I got them off eBay, and they also had a pointed toe, which, in addition to being unappealing to me, can also affect the boots' fit). So to eBay they went, but now I'm happy to report that to replace them I've ordered a pair of black full-quill ostrich Lucchese Classics!

Yup. That's the type I have. Full-quill ostrich 5 toe with a 1 3/8 heel. I also have full quill 7 toe with an 8 heel. Both in black. They are cool looking. I prefer the full quill over the ostrich leg, only because I feel if you're going ostrich go all the way at least once!

as you surely know, them ostriches bite the wallet pretty hard!

I have two pairs at any random time, one pair that is for just for riding, working in the barn, and general kicking around, and another pair I keep in better shape to wear with my office clothes and suit.

Currently own one pair, plan on buying few more.

Color? Brand? Regular leather or exotic skin?
