We've all at least tried to do something either crazy or cool with our beards, I had a pair of mutton chops that would have made an old statesman proud good 3 inches of hair off the side of my face, anyone else got a cool beard in their memory?

The craziest thing I've done with mine is let it grow out some. When the ends started curling back, I knew I needed to continue keeping it short. I look forward to other people's stories, though.

I grew my beard out for 1 year and 4 months. I started my first day of terminal leave from the Navy and grew it until last November. I just let it grow and I trimmed only the mustache to keep it from curling inside my lip. The beard grew to be about 8" long. It was well recognized and talked about on my school campus. I got a lot of compliments from random people off campus too.

I can only grow a "goatee/vandyke" with any kind of volume.  However, my sophomore year in college, my beard would have made Jim "the Anvil" Neihardt tremble in fear.  Twelve full inches of Naturally Crimson Goat Beard, baby!

From the Grammarphobia blog.Q: In a recent radio appearance, you said the idea that “he” can refer to any human being – man or woman – was introduced in the 18th century by a female grammarian. I think you’re wrong. The concept of male as universal has been around much longer.A: If by “male as universal,” you mean using male pronouns (“he,” “him,” and “his”) for women as well as men, the idea did indeed begin in the 18th century. Before then – for two centuries, in fact – it was considered…See More

The death of neck ties?

I heard that according to researches that the neck tie is expected to become obsolete in the next few decades. Because more and more men are dressing more casually these days thanks to Facebook and google where the CEO shows up in jeans and a hoodie. So is the neck tie really becoming obsolete or are men just not caring about his personal appearance? Please feel free to give your taken on this.See More

"What are you looking for, in terms of style?   Where I live, a "white" straw cowboy hat is very common.  Affordable, too.   "
