What do you carry in the form of weaponry on a daily basis?  Do you carry anything?  Why or why not?  Being able to defend yourself is important, and you never know when that moment would arise.

Ever since I can remember, my father impressed upon me the importance of carrying a pocketknife, and I got my first pocketknife when I was 8, I believe.  Now I haven't always carried a knife with me, but I've always had several pocket knives, and I am making it a goal to carry with me whenever I can.  This is my current and favorite hardware right here.

It's a solid feeling knife.  Heavy.  Satisfyingly easy to open and close with one hand.  And as I found out this summer while traveling, illegal to carry on your person in the State of Mississippi.  Unfortunately, it's obviously cheaply made.  And it's made in China.  At the back of the blade where it hinges to the body, the metal was obviously broken off or something.  So at somepoint I want to get a better, nicer, American made Gerber or Buck knife or something.  Speaking of, does anyone know if it's even possible to get an American made knife?

There is actually a group dedicated solely to EDC, you should check it out.

It's a nice tradition between you and your father, and that's a great looking knife. Personally speaking, I don't carry anything. I do my best to avoid/get away rather than have someone turn my weapon against me. That's not a shot at you by the way. Having never learned to use weapons, I would act a fool.

My brain, best weapon I have.  With it I can keep out of trouble or use available tools for my defense.

It's definitely possible to get an American-made knife.  Buck sells a variety of pocket knives, most of them pretty cheap and made elsewhere, but you can get Buck knives made in U.S.A. if you're willing to pay more- I believe that these also come packaged with a warranty.

I generally carry a single blade old timer pocket knife. Sometimes a gerber clip knife. As far as firearms depends on situation. As to legality in MS... Were you arrested or did joe q policeman just tell you it was illegal. I have been searched several times in my life always had knife. Never had a problem.

There was actually a sign in a store that said knives over 3.5" were illegal to carry "on your person".  Luckily I didn't have any run ins with the law.

What does your blade measure? 3 3/4ish? That's about what mine is, but the law here in TN is 4", so luckily I'm safe.

Currently looking for a tactical pen.

Best tactical pen is... believe it or not a Parker Jotter($10). No need to drop 50 or some outraegous amount on a "tactical pen" You're just looking for trouble carrying one of those.

1. Something to cut with- Opinel#9 folder ang a Mora 840MG fixed blade

2. John Wayne (P-38)

3. Something to make fire with- Bic lighter with an innertube ranger band securing the throttle

Firesteel on the Mora sheath with ranger band

4. Pocket sized whet stone

5. Reading glasses

@ B. Graham ssurefire has some excellent options in the tactical pen category.
