Dadisms
"Where's the got-dang channel changer? Jiminy Christmas!"
This is something that my stepdad said a lot when I was growing up. From running around my town at my friends houses, being around their dads and my own, I came to realize that a linguistic phenomenon takes place in nearly every household I visited: everyone's dad had their own language. I call them 'dadisms'.
Here are a few dadisms my stepdad, Clyde, came up with
Channel changer instead of remote
Jiminy Christmas instead of Jesus Christ
Ding-dong instead of any number of more vulgar things he might have wanted to call someone. Usually it took the place of "idiot" or "jackass".
Got-dang instead of...eh you get the picture.

The only word I can remember is Clicker for TV Remote (that's what I call it too) But he always would use an extremely heavy "Pittsburghese" accent when he was trying to be funny. Anyone from Pittsburgh or has friends/family from there knows just what I am talking about... especially if you have ever heard the Pants N'at skits on WDVE
