Hello my fellow men, I'm in the market to get myself a new scent.  Personally I have always really enjoyed Old Spice, but I would like some suggestions for a good cologne that your average joe doesn't have..but has a similar smell profile.  Does anything come to mind?

For me its still hard to beat the original POLO

but seriously, Ralph Lauren Polo Black is great.  Not too sweet, not tangy and not offensive.  Been using it for 6-7 years now. 

I've been using the Bay Rum that the Duluth Trading Company sells.  I get alot of complements on it, but the scent doesn't last long.  I'd like to try another brand of bay rum, if anyone has suggestions. 

I believe Bay Rums are generally aftershaves so will probably never last overly long. Order the Captain's Choice Bay Rum. It seems to have some staying power. It's good stuff, made by hand in small batches. It has a few extra aromatics added to it. For the authentic scent from back when sailors first started infusing bay leaves (they're not the same bay leaves that you use in cooking) in rum get a bottle of Dominica Bay Rum. It's grain alcohol and bay leaves. Nothing else, just like it should be. Again this is an aftershave so it won't be lasting all day.

Here recently I have been using Brooks Brothers cologne.  I got hooked on it when a co-worker of mine told me it's what he used.  I would suggest the Brooks Brothers travel pack, and see which scent you like best.

I'm a big fan of Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve.  Smells like a classy man who would enjoy drinking cocktails in the evening before taking a lovely young woman out to a show.

I too love that brand. Felt cheesy buying it at first, but my wife likes it.

Gucci Pour Homme is amazing but I understand it's been discontinued. Rich, woody, incense tones. Lasts all day on me. Makes me want to pull the neck of my shirt up over my face all day just to smell it. This one is more of a winter/cold weather scent. If you ever see a bottle, buy it immediately.

Rive Gauche by Yves Saint Laurent is a great summertime scent. Very clean, makes you smell like you just came from a manly barber shop. Should be a good choice to wear if you work in an office environment.

I use the Sandalwood Cologne from Taylor of Old Bond Street. It's a great, deep, woody spicy scent so similar to Old Spice in some ways. It's relatively cheap for a cologne but isn't of cheap quality one bit, it smells like it should be a lot more expensive. Comes in a nice glass splash bottle, simple with no overdone packaging. It's not a easy cologne to find so your best bet would be to buy it online.

My father has got something from "Lambourgini". I use it sometimes. I find that cologne smells "easier". It's not a very strong scent, but it just gives it that finishing touch.

Dolce and Gabbana "The One"

This is my go to cologne for more formal occasions. Hints of Cederwood, Tobbacco, and Citrus. Not overpowering.

Guerlain Vetiver is a classic. Guerlain Vetiver Extreme is a modern variant.

My favorite is Guerlain Habit Rouge. My wife's favorite from my collection is Guerlain Heritage.
