You've got a lot more whiskers than many.  I say grow it.

Not sure you can make it thicker rather than longer.  Unless Rogaine works on the face...!

What I meant was it keeps looking thicker and thicker as the hair overlaps. How long will that continue?

Don't remember.  But I think we can guess from the pic:  you'll be spotty in the middle of the chin, but otherwise full enough.

yea, i have a lot of vellos hairs there. actually i have them mixed throughout the whole beard. im hopin that means ill have a thick beard someday

I agree with Will. I think you are well on your way. Let it go for at least four weeks and you will be able to make a good judgement as to whether it works for you.

Once it's grown a bit, I think if you kept the non-beard areas shaved clean (cheekbones and neck), w/a nice straight borderline, it'll make the beard seem thicker.

Yeah man, just rub some T gel all over that mug of yours and it'll come in nice and thick:) Seriously though, looks to me like you could grow one and depending on your hair type, it'll fill in nicely. the curlier the hair, the thicker the appearance(for some)

You've a better beard than I had at 20. Let it grow at least 2, preferably 3 weeks untouched before you decide how to trim it.

When I was a young man, I thought my beard was too sparse. It wasn't until I was in my 40s that I decided to try growing one. That period between when I started and when it was full enough and long enough to shape was always rather uncomfortable for me. That period will be easier for you, as younger men can get away with that interim look better than older guys like me. That said, like any other change you want to make to your appearance, you do it for yourself. Don't give 2 seconds to any negative comments. 

The great thing about beards, goatees, and mustaches is that you can shape them, wear them long, short or adjust as you see fit. If you get bored or decide you don't care for a specific look, you can change it any time.

I encourage you to do whatever you want, and ignore opinions of others. It's your face, make yourself happy.

Here we go guys, week 2 of my journey. So far I have found that growing a beard is as much a beard growing journey as it is a spiritual one. There is something very personal and profound about growing a beard. I am only now scratching the surface of this adventure of self discovery so it is difficult to put my experience into words, but, it is a challenge of confidence and truth.

The confidence is required. I once heard someone say, "The beard gives you confidence", but it is in fact confidence that gives you the beard. I would not have been able to grow a beard if it weren't for my recent reclaiming of my confidence (verrryyyy long story).

The challenge of truth that the beard  presents is both personal and interpersonal. Personally  you must find out; can you accept, even embrace yourself, in the face of beard haters? Inter-personally, because of the "true to self " nature of the beard, you will also find out who truly accepts you as a person, as well as who's loyalty can be shaken by a mere change in appearance. Even when the answer may not be desirable.

P.S - The beard seems to strongly attract a certain type of girl. Adventurous. Fortunately an adventurous girl is my kinda girl. 

There are two types of girls. Those that like purses, makeup, and clubbing, and those who like, what I call, the substance of life. If you are a substance  of life  person, you know exactly  what I mean. The girls of the latter category like men. Masculine, rugged, men.

Here it is fellas, week 2 update!                                

This weeks questions:

1. I have a lot of thin blonde hairs mixed in with the beard, especially in the soul patch, mustache, and mustache  connector areas. I believe these are vellus hairs, does this give hope of a thick and luscious beard someday?     

2. Can I rock the full beard? If not, what style CAN I rock? I was thinking of just shaving the stache since it doesn't connect.

3. What do you think of my neck and cheek line?
