In your opinion, what is the best, most goddamned manly movie ever made in the history of movies?

My personal favorite goes to "Steel Dawn", with Patrick Swayze playing this bad-ass desert-wandering sword fighter, who goes into this town and saves it by beating up a shit ton of evil bandit guys who want to take all the water. I not only consider it a truly "manly" movie, but also one of the best movies from the 80's, and perhaps of all time. It's pretty darn good in my personal opinion, even though not many people seem to know about it.

What are your guys' favs?

There a lot out there to choose from. I'd say The Devil's Brigade closely followed by The Great Escape and The Longest Day. Yes they are all WW2 movies but it wasn't called the greatest generation for nothing!  Also, they are real folks performing real heroics.

"The Great Escape" is number one. Definitely. Also the 1930 version of "All Quiet on the Western Front." Might as well throw in "The Bridge Over the River Kwai," too.

Lonesome Dove.....

This movie. And Band of Brothers

The Warriors, Fight Club, Gallipoli, Predator.

Braveheart

For pure camp and ridiculousness:

Shoot Em Up

For deeper character and integrity:

To Kill a Mockingbird

Rev. Sykes: “Miss Jean Louise. Miss Jean Louise, stand up. Your father's passing”

A Man for All Seasons. A man stands by his principals until the end, no matter what the cost.

Um, Thomas More tortured men for owning a bible in their own language. Playwright Bolt left that part out. Not manly.

Tombstone or Inglorious Basterds. Possibly Pulp Fiction.

Tin Men!  Danny DeVito and Richard Dreyfus.  Some funny, funny guy stuff!  Just the best!

Tombstone is pretty badass. There certainly are a whole shitbag of movies that one can choose, that is for sure. I'm a little surprised though that no one mentioned movies by renowned ass kickers such as Van Damme, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, etc. Bloodsport is also one of my favs, depending on the day, I may actually give the title of the manliest movie ever made to Bloodsport, over Steel Dawn. But this is like picking between chocolate ice cream and pineapple smoothie, both are real damn good.

Plus... Hell in the Pacific has Toshirô Mifune!
