Would like to get some advice.  Been working on my goatee for about 2.5 years now.  It is around 8 inches in length at this point.  I keep it well groomed and keep it in a v shape where it is basically ends at a point in full length.  Issue being, with the humidity here in the south, whenever I shampoo/condition it, it takes several days for the natural oil to soak back in for me to "tame" it.  In other words, it is frizzy for a couple days after a wash.

I have used several products.  Coconut oil did not work and my wife's friends husband has a mini-beard and advised Bert's bees miracle salve.  But so far neither have been successful.   I currently shampoo it once a week but feel like I need to do so more often.

Any advice on beard moisturizers would be appreciated!

I live in Oklahoma.  It's dry and humid here.  I have a 2 inch or so full beard.  I would recommend not using a shampoo but using a gentle cleanser. Suds and foaming agents will strip oils.  I use bulldog mens original face wash.  Its gentle and doesn't strip or irritate.  I also would recommend a good beard oil.  I use a beard oil by brooklyn grooming.  I also have a beard balm by honest amish.  They both work well and make my beard feel soft.  Hope this helps.

Dry AND humid? How's that work?
We basically get it all bad weather wise. The air is dry but sometimes there is moisture in the air. We have similar weather to Texas, Arizona, and Mexico.
Basically winters can be humid and our summers are generally hot and muggy.

I use blue beards original beard saver. lime to break down dirt/oil, unclog pores, and aloe to soften. might be helpful in your situation.

I use The Beard Barons beard oil. Softens, moisturizes, and smells awesome.

Now a question for you: you say you point your goatee? How do you achieve that? It's something I haven't been able to do, which bothers me because it's the only thing I can't get looking slick.

i have really oily skin, so i have to do the strip and replenish thing.  if i don't my skin around and under my beard will break out.

i wash my beard with whatever soap i am using on the rest of me.  but then i use the original Mane 'n Tail conditioner (the one for horses).  i let that sit in my beard while i wash the rest of me.  give it time to soak in.  then rinse.

no beard oils required.

this keeps my beard soft and tamable and helps prevent knots.

Baby oil or mineral oil you use on cutting boards perhaps?

Also why not look at a "hydrating" conditioner?  Something for colored hair. The process of coloring it can really dry it out.

My beard is not as big as yours so I just spend a few hours in a sauna to make my chin and beard feel soft, then I use soap to clean it. I also groom it at least once a week.

Self-Defense Without Guns

This situation is going to take some detailing, so please bear with me.I live in Taiwan, where civilians cannot own firearms.  Crime here is almost zero, violent crime is basically zero.  Its one of the safest places to be.  There's also security cameras everywhere in the cities.  However, the little violent crime that there is ... is of a pretty frightening character. The problem is corruption.  While random crime like home invasion, convenience store robbery, drug crime, road rage etc. is…See More
