Men, I´d like to know how you feel about shaving your armpits? Do you let it grow - or do you shave - or trim?
A lot of men over here in Europe prefer shaving if I look around our gym or my team at martial arts or soccer.

I recognize a lot of men from the USA prefer their pits hairy - not shaved.

I for myself dislike shaving. I trim.

Delet this.

Why delete?
I can´t delete the topic...

I don't shave mine.

If a guy has a problem with a lot of sweating and odor coming from their armpits, light trimming would probably be a good idea; leave the hair half an inch or so. If you have a lot of long hair it would be a good idea to trim also.......I'm not a fan of shaving......you're a guy and hair is just a part of you. You want to be neat, but not to an effeminate point.

You can delete the topic by clicking "options" at the top right of the original posts, and selecting Delete Post. But I think they are (half) joking.

Do Europeans really do this as a norm? That's amazing. It's trouble. Seems like you'd get razor burn all the time. And... why? "OMG, it looks like I might be male, hide the evidence"?

I have done this like 2-3 times in my life, when a stench got into the hair and there was just no other way. But not as a norm.

(I do kind of wonder why we're designed with hair there. Do only the stinkiest survive?)

After a few articles, it boils down to this:

1.Aid the wicking of sweat away from the skin

2.Reduce friction between the thorax and upper arm

3.Facilitate the release of sex pheromones

Number 3 was kinda... odd, but a study was done where women had to sniff men's shirts who didn't wear deodorant and ah... science...

When I lived in Germany in the 80's none of the women shaved their pits, so I'm surprised to learn that men are.

Im naturally hairy and have been trying different grooming styles.  I wish I didn't have hair on my back and shoulders and the rest is less important.  But grooming takes time and effort overall.  Of all the body hair, pubes and pits are the last to go from my perspective.

I also can´t understand the shaving trend for men. Especially younger men shave their pits. I think they´re afraid of the smell while working out or doing anything physical...

Maybe younger men who are afraid of taking their clothes off when they shower compensate by removing all their body hair instead.
