Are Some People Born Stupid?
This is a different kind of rant.
There are Site Meters on my Weblogs. Since they are low traffic volume (I hate to admit), I get to play and find out what brought someone to the site. One of my top "hit makers" is when someone is using a search engine to find a pr0n site with a similar name.
OK, not stupid so far. But this is. Twice I have put something like, "This is not (whatzis name) erotic stories. They are not here, capice?" Remember, most people use the "preview" on a search engine, so they can see my disclaimer (I've backtracked to the "referring URL" and seen for myself what they read), so what do they do? Yep, they click there anyway!
Anyone else want to tell about things people do that are almost deliberately stupid?

Michael...the idea is to show others a better way. NOT to ridicule them for the poor choices they've made...especially if they may not have had access to the same role models and good upbringing you did.

The yo-yo's are definately stupid, and overconsumption, definately stupid.
I had a friend that used to tell me about how he and his wife were having difficulty making ends meet all the time. To their credit they both worked and he even pulled side jobs, they stayed off welfare, and tried to keep their kids in Christian private school. His car broke down and ha prayed over it and put it on the prayer list, later someone from his church GAVE him a Jeep with only 60-80k miles on it! Totally bitchin' right? Well later he told me that the Jeep was broke down in his driveway. I asked what was wrong with it he said he didn't know, maybe it was the alternator and that was going to cost money he didn't have. It sat for month and months, finally he told me he decided to sell it. I told him he should get it checked out first he had a guy from church come and check it out. What was the problem? Why did it sit for months on end?.......DEAD FRIGGIN BATTERY! What an idiot.
Later he tells me how broke he is and that he was praying for and large tax return to help get his family through the next few months. His prayers were answered and he received a whoppin good return. He asked me what I thought he should do with it. I told him to put half in savings, pay off some debts and put the last thousand in checking for a buffer and continue on working as usual. His reply was to the effect of "no I mean do you think I should get an XBOX and a new MP3 player, or a flat screen tv?

He definately did. I loved that guy though, and I loved his kids. I really miss them. But he was stupid. I mean it pissed me off that his prayers for all rights and purposes were answered, but he squandered it.

I work at a library, where we have a sign in station to reserve a computer. Once you scan your card (which some people can't figure out), it tells you which computer you're on, the time you can get on, and even prints you out a receipt with that same info on it. One time, the receipt machine was broke, and we had people (who come in everyday) asking which computer they were on! All they had to do is read the screen. I find it ironic that no one reads anything when they come into the library. Mindless sheep!

I would consider that as a possibility, but there are far too many hits from English-speaking countries.
