Hello there, manly men,

During the last few weeks I've been searching the internet for a place to buy a trench coat. The idea of the perfect trench coat surely differs from one manly man to another, but what I am looking for is a black trench coat, preferably not leather. The longer the better. Not quite the signature coat of the Gestapo, nor the gothic-influenced one that Neo wears in the Matrix, I'm looking for what is undeniably a old-fashioned trench coat, not some of that modern pseudohistorical garbage that bears close to no resemblance to the original trench coats, except for the name. I already read through other forum and blogs posts, but to no avail, sadly. Any advice you can provide on websites that sell black, long trench coats would be much appreciated. Really, I'd love to see any coat that might resemble what I described in the above.

Incidentally, this is also my first time posting here, I came acros the webiste a few months ago and finally decided to give the forum a try. Seems like a very nice place to hang out and discuss manly and not-so-manly things alike. I like grooming my moustache, fighting bears with my bare hands and long walks on the beach.

I thank you for your time and wish you all the best.

Welcome aboard!

Are you looking for single breasted or double? Burberry is probably the authority on trenches. Brooks Brothers also carries several classic models. HTH.

JosA.Banks also has great trench coats if you are wanting to look at classic looks at a reasonable price.

Try J. Peterman. I've been a client/customer for years, and I've never once had to return anything.

Thank you all for your helpful links and advice. I shall continue my search, your input is much appreciated.

Sorry, I have nothing to say about trench coats but I couldn't stop myself from responding once I saw your profile picture.  Camus is my all-time favorite writer.  I even have a bit from his lyrical essay 'Summer in Algiers' tattooed on me.  I always love running into someone who appreciates his work.  Cheers, and good luck on finding a trench coat haha
