Greetings, everybody!

My wife and I will celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary next month. Thus far, we've opted to get each other traditional wedding gifts (last year was wood). But I see that the 6th anniversary is iron and candy. I must admit that I have no idea where to go with this. I've looked at websites that offer such gifts, but they seem very impersonal. Does anybody have any ideas for a gift, or where to look for good gift ideas?

Thanks!

Do you prefer to give useless gifts, or is practical OK? Budget?

Hi Rebekah,

I would prefer to give her something practical, unless I decide to go the candy route. But I would like her also to know that I put some thought into it.

As for budget, my wife and I are rather frugal. But I would say under $125.

Thanks!

So "iron" includes everything steel, right? I'd pay attention to her cooking and think about what needs replacing/upgrading. Then buy the knife, frying pan, stock pot, baking dish, etc. Buy American- or European-made. I'm no expert, just a bride with upper-middle-class friends and family. I like Le Crueset, All-Clad, Henckles, and Wustof. Notably, all these go for higher on ebay than you can buy them on sale at department stores. All those have different sub-brands of differing quality, so ask the sales associate or read the labels carefully. Le Crueset has enameled cast iron you can get in her favorite color.

In the other direction, "iron jewelry" in etsy.com leads to almost 5,000 listings. You probably have time for a custom order, too.

Thanks, Rebekah! I had thought about something for the kitchen, so I appreciate the tips.
